Sainsbury's across Ayrshire ban fireworks in line with store's national stance

Sainsbury's have implemented a nationwide ban of fireworks in any of their Ayrshire stores.

The supermarket brand, which has stores in Stewarton, Irvine, Prestwick and Saltcoats, has announced that they will not be selling fireworks across any of their 2300 outlets.

The move from the supermarket giant comes amid fears for the welfare of pets and the elderly.

Replying to a social media user on Twitter today, Sainsbury's confirmed the move.

Sainsbury's replied to one customer saying: "Hey Sally, thanks! We won't be selling fireworks in any of our stores this year. Hope this helps!"

The customer had tweeted the chain asking: "@sainsburys Have to say well done & thank you. Been informed local branch #Stanmore won't be selling fireworks this year due [to] the distress it causes our pets & wildlife. Any other stores doing this? Can't thank you enough as my dog is beside herself with fear at these times."
