Saif Ali Khan stabbed: Doctors to move actor out of ICU to general ward after consulting family

Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan, who was rushed to the hospital following a stabbing incident earlier this week, is now showing signs of recovery, according to medical officials.

The actor, currently in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), is under close observation. A report on ANI states that the doctors at the facility have revealed that Saif’s condition has stabilized and that they are considering moving him out of the ICU into a general ward. However, a decision will be made only after the team consults with the actor's family.

News broke on Thursday morning that Saif was attacked by an intruder in his 11th-floor Bandra flat at around 2:30 am. The incident occurred when a allegedly entered the apartment in what was said to be a burglary attempt.

Saif reportedly attempted to intervene, however, things went south leading to a scuffle between the two, which left the actor with several stab wounds.

On being rushed to Lilavati Hospital, he underwent surgery under the supervision of a team of doctors. Reports state that while his injuries were not 'life-threatening', he did sustain a major injury to the thoracic spinal cord, and surgery was performed to remove the blade and tend to the wound.

Amidst a flood of misinformation doing the rounds on social media, Saif's wife Kareena also issued a statement urging fans and media to respect the family's privacy in this 'sensitive' time.

"It has been an incredibly challenging day for our family, and we are still trying to process the events that have unfolded. As we navigate this difficult time, I respectfully and humbly request that the media and paparazzi refrain from the relentless speculation and coverage," Kareena stated.

She further emphasized the overwhelming nature of the constant scrutiny. She added, "While we appreciate the concern and support, the constant scrutiny and attention are not only overwhelming but also pose a significant risk to our safety. I kindly request that you respect our boundaries and give us the space we need to heal and cope as a family. I would like to thank you in advance for your understanding and cooperation during this sensitive time."
