Saidy Janko says farewell to Nottingham Forest - 'a club with huge potential'

Defender Saidy Janko says Nottingham Forest is a club “with huge potential” as his loan spell with the Reds came to an end.

The full-back featured 17 times this season, having joined on loan from Porto back in August, with his last appearance coming in the 2-1 defeat at Rotherham United at the start of April.

It was a campaign which ultimately saw Martin O’Neill’s side come up short in their bid for a top six spot.

Nottingham Forest have two of the best performing players in Championship - and one might be a surprise

Forest signed off for the summer with a run of three consecutive wins as they finished ninth in the table, eight points adrift of sixth-placed Derby County.

Boss O’Neill, though, has made clear mounting a promotion push is his ambition next time around, when the action resumes - and Janko believes the Reds are a club which “belongs” in the top-flight.

He posted a picture on Instagram of himself in the Garibaldi with the message: “Big thanks to @officialnffc staff, players and supporters for a decent season. A club with huge potential which belongs in the prem with the right guidance..”

The Reds are not expected to attempt to bring Janko back to the City Ground as O’Neill looks to put his stamp on the squad in the summer transfer window.
