Said Benrahma has dismissed concerns over his medical that caused a delay to his signing for West Ham and, at one stage, jeopardised a move entirely.
The 25-year-old eventually put pen to paper on a season-long loan deal from Brentford with the Hammers having an obligation to buy in 2021.
A reported problem with Benrahma’s blood test when he was undergoing his medical in east London almost caused a move to collapse with the Hammers ready to pay £30million for a permanent move.
That then caused the parameters to change and West Ham wanted to take Benrahma on loan instead with the obligation. That was eventually agreed with the Hammers paying Brentford £4million up front in a loan fee.
The 25-year-old joined in with training at Rush Green for the first time on Tuesday and is in contention to make his debut in the home game against Manchester City this weekend at London Stadium.
Benrahma was asked by Téléfoot Chaîne, via Sport Witness, about the issue with his medical, which Benrahma dismissed as nothing.
He said: "No, everything is very good. It was just details that needed sorting out. Some results hadn’t come through yet. It was either we waited and I didn’t sign or it gets done quickly.
"That was it, small details, but my health is very, very good."
Benrahma was also asked about securing his move to the Premier League after an excellent campaign in the Championship with the Bees, who narrowly missed out on promotion to the top flight after losing to Leeds in the play-off final at Wembley.
West Ham settled on Benrahma after also considering a move for Bournemouth’s Josh King but the Hammers had long held an interest in Benrahma before eventually and belatedly making their move.
“It was hard at first, throughout the transfer window,” Benrahma added.
“After that, West Ham really wanted me. It was a long process. There were small details that Brentford and West Ham had to sort out, but it got done and I’m super happy.
“It took time, but it’s over now. I’m 100% at West Ham.”
