Said Benrahma ready for Premier League challenge as West Ham unveil latest signing

Said Benrahma has declared his delight at joining West Ham and being able to test himself in the Premier League.

Benrahma completed a season-long loan move to West Ham following dramatic domestic transfer deadline day negotiations - though the Hammers have an agreement with Brentford to make the move permanent.

Earlier on Friday, the temporary deal had been thrown into doubt after it was reported that Benrahma had failed his medical.

But the Hammers have confirmed the Algeria international, who starred in the Championship with Brentford last season, will now be moving to the London Stadium until the end of the current campaign.

Following his move - which sees the Hammers pay an initial £5m loan fee ahead of a potential transfer worth up to £30m - Benrahma said: "I’m very, very happy to be a part of this team.

"West Ham is a historic club, which has been in the Premier League for a very long time. It included and still includes good players. It’s a massive club in England.

"I spoke to the manager, so I know exactly what he expects from me. I’ll try to meet his expectations on the pitch because he’s put faith in me and hopefully I can give it back on the pitch.

"I like this prospect [of playing in the Premier League]! I play football to enjoy myself first and foremost, but it’s always enjoyable to know you’re joining the most-watched league in the world, so I’m definitely looking forward to showing what I can do."
