Saga's new river cruise ship to offer sailing inspired by The Beatles

Fans of The Beatles can soon go on a cruise inspired by the iconic British band and their hit songs.

Oh, and you'll get to be one of the first passengers on board Saga's new river cruise ship Spirit of the Rhine in the process.

The over 50s travel firm has unveiled a very special inaugural sailing for its new 190-passenger ship, which will pay tribute to John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr.

That includes live performances from tribute band the Bootleg Beatles, as well as a visit to the Beatles museum in Alkmaar in the Netherlands, where passengers will be treated to a private, guided tour to get a close up look at the collection of personal memorabilia.

In fact, you'll even receive a souvenir Beatles in Holland book autographed by the author.

The six-night sailing will kick off on the 23rd March March 2021 and will mark the first voyage for Spirit of the Rhine.

You can already book cabins on the Saga website , with prices starting from £1,249pp based on two people sharing a lower deck cabin.

The inaugural sailing will also feature plenty more tempting experiences along the way including a tour of Amsterdam (a culinary walking tour will also be on offer), ports of call to Hoorn, Enkhuizen and Zaandem, and an optional excursion to the breathtaking Keukenhof Gardens.

Following on from her inaugural sailing, Spirit of the Rhine will embark on a host of itineraries along the Rhine, Moselle, Main, Danube and the waterways of Holland.

In fact, there will also be other themed sailings around iconic figures including Rembrandt, and Gilbert and Sullivan, with appearances from the likes of DJ Johnnie Walker, cricket commentator Jonathan Agnew, broadcasters Alistair Stewart and John Sergeant, TV gardener Charlie Dimmock, art expert Raj Bisram and wine connoisseur Jilly Goolden.

The ship itself makes for quite the home away from home too. For a start, most of the 17 sq m cabins boast a French balcony and floor-to-ceiling windows.

Meanwhile there are plenty of spots to discover including the lounge and bar, library, main restaurant, smaller restaurant with show cooking, a sun deck, gym and plenty more areas with great spots for taking in the views.
