MANGALURU: Condemning Mangaluru MLA UT Khader’s statements, the Dakshina Kannada BJP said it will continue to raise its voice against Love Jihad and terror activities.
The MLA had on Friday said that the arrest made by NIA from his constituency should not be politicised.
NIA had arrested Ammar Abdul Rahman, a relative of a former MLA from Ullal, on suspected links with Islamic State (IS).
Khader had questioned Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal for making Love Jihad allegations and staging a protest in his constituency.
Reacting to Khader’s statements, DK BJP president Sudarshan Moodbidri told reporters on Saturday that VHP and Bajrang Dal had protested the alleged links to terror activities and Love Jihad in the family of the former MLA.
“We condemn the statements of MLA Khader. He has questioned VHP and Bajrang Dal for raising the Love Jihad issue related to the former MLA’s family. We will continue to question whenever terrorist activities and Love Jihad cases are reported from any corner of the country. The MLA has no right to oppose our voice against terrorist activities and Love Jihad. BJP justifies the protest staged by VHP and Bajrang Dal,” Sudarshan added.
The fight against terrorism and Love Jihad did not begin recently. India has been witnessing the fights against religious conversion, cow slaughter, terrorism and Love Jihad for the past seven decades. The MLA has given an immature statement on Sangh Parivar’s protest that was staged soon after the arrest of the kin of the former MLA. There is documentary evidence that Love Jihad has happened in that family and its members are joining the IS. The family’s links to terror activities and Love Jihad will be proved through investigations. So Khader should not make such immature statements, the BJP leader said.
On Khader opposing people from outside staging a protest in his constituency on Wednesday, Sudarshan said: “Ullal is not in Pakistan, and it is in our country. A large number of people from Ullal had also joined the protest.”
