Safety Tyvis Powell thanks Texans for ‘constructive criticism’ after being released

The Houston Texans released safety Tyvis Powell on Saturday and signed back A.J. Hendy.

The move was one of getting younger at the bottom end of the 90-man roster ahead of the club’s preseason opener at the Green Bay Packers on Aug. 8. Powell, who was released from his sixth team, thanked the Texans for the experience on his Twitter account Saturday.

The Texans signed Powell on July 27, which was also the same day they waived Hendy.

Powell, a 2016 undrafted Ohio State product, stands at 6-3, 210 pounds. The Bedford, Ohio, native will more than likely catch on with any one of the other 26 teams he has not played with given his size and the attrition that hits all NFL secondaries at training camp winds down and the preseason ramps up.
