Safety alert issued for popular ketchup sold in Spar stores across Ireland

An alert has been issued for a popular ketchup product sold in Spar stores across Ireland.

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland has warned that it contains mustard that is not declared on the label.

This could result in it being unsafe for customers who are allergic or intolerant of mustard, or its ingredients.

The batches affected by the warning have a best before date of 17/05/2022.

It is the 485g pack size that is subject to the alert, and it has a batch code of 106 E 138.

A FSAI spokesman said: "The implicated batch of Spar Quality Tomato Ketchup contains mustard that is not mentioned on the label.

"This may make the batch unsafe for consumers who are allergic to or intolerant of mustard or its constituents."
