Staff at a pre-school in Merseyside were left shocked and "frustrated" when they arrived at work to find vandals had struck.
On Monday a member of the team at Our Lady of Pity Preschool in Greasby, discovered the school's specially constructed outdoor "safe space" for kids had been the target of vandals. Multiple large rips had been made in its expensive cover.
Staff believe vandals struck over the weekend, as on Friday the space - a converted poly tunnel that provides children with a safe and comfortable outdoor area - was untouched. Our Lady of Pity manager Emily Kendrick said the vandalism could make the valuable space useless to the next cohort of children arriving in September.

Emily told the ECHO: "We're really frustrated because it's only just been fixed. It was broken in the storms so we've only just had it fixed in April. But also, its a really safe place for the children to play in. Some children might not thrive as much indoors as they do outside.
"It just makes the children different people and they learn a lot more from being in there. We've got a lot of toys and learning resources in there so we're really concerned that they might of been damaged. We've got children coming in September and they might not be able to use that space now.
"What's annoying is that it costs a lot of money to replace it but it also costs a lot to get it fitted. We're a Community interest company, so anything we do like this has to come out of fundraising money which we don't get a lot of. We try our best but things like that cost a lot of money to get done."
Emily has set up a fundraiser to help pay for the costs incurred to fix the vandalism. You can find the fundraiser here.
