Safe of money stolen from Greggs in Bridgend

Police are appealing for information after a Greggs bakery was burgled.

At approximately 10pm on Wednesday, December 8, a safe containing money was stolen from the popular chain on Coychurch Road, Pencoed.

Detectives say the burglary happened after entry was forced via a back door. The amount of money stolen has not been revealed by South Wales Police.

The Greggs bakery is next door to the Tesco Express outlet - and there are a number of local businesses opposite. Officers are believed to be examining CCTV footage from these shops in case it gives them any clues about the culprits.

Officers are asking people who may have been in the area at the time, or seen anything suspicious, to contact them. Passing motorists who may also have dash cam footage are asked to get in touch.

A force spokesman said: "Anybody who may have information about who was responsible is urged to contact 101 and give reference *428721.

"Alternatively they can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
