Fares on public ferry boats along Bangkok’s Saen Saeb canal will rise by one baht per trip next month, from 10-20 baht to 11-21 baht, the service provider announced on Wednesday.
This follows a similar increase on June 15.
Chaowalit Methayaprapas, managing director of Family Transport (2002) Co, said the Marine Department had recently approved the increase, effective July 1.
Current fares are 10, 12, 14, 16, 18 and 20 baht depending on the distance. On July 1 they will increase to 11, 13, 15, 17, 19 and 21 baht respectively, he said.
The company oprates services along Saen Saeb canal between Wat Sri Boonruang and Pha Fa Leelas piers.
Mr Chaowalit said the fare increase was in line with the increase in operating costs due to soaring diesel prices.
Last month, the boat operator also announced an increase in fares by one baht, from 9-19 baht to 10-20 baht, effective from June 15. This followed a one-baht rise on Jan 14 this year
