Sadness over Harry and William's relationship as ITV revisits Kate's wedding

Ten years ago, there was a time when Prince William and Prince Harry were close-knit brothers and one was the best man at the other's wedding.

In April 2011, William married Kate Middleton at Westminster Abbey and the nation rejoiced as a future Queen was welcomed into the Royal Family.

At the time, Meghan Markle was just starting her run in US drama Suits, with Prince Harry not even a distant thought in her mind.

Harry was at his brother's side for the most part of the royal wedding day and ITV viewers were moved as they remembered the time when they were close siblings.

Their relationship is a little strained at the moment, after Harry withdrew from the Royal Family and headed to California with wife Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, and their son Archie.

It has been reported that the pair have attempted to rebuild their brotherly love after months of toxicity, but it would seem that, for now, they pair will continue to move in different directions with their lives.

The airing of clips from William and Kate's wedding day has brought back 'happier' times among the royals, who are currently facing their biggest crisis in a generation after Meghan made a number of allegations about unnamed royals.

As viewers watched the ITV documentary, they were quickly saddened when the story turned to the brothers' relationship.

Taking to Twitter, one upset viewer wrote: "Sad watching william and harry. They were so close and now barely speaking, #thedaywillandkategotmarried "

Another added a barbed comment in congratulating William on his choice of bride: "We're so lucky William got Kate *-* #thedaywillandkategotmarried "

While it was speculated in the documentary that William and Kate 'battled' Harry and Meghan for the spotlight, one Tweeter pointed out: "Ultimately it suits both couples the way things have turned out. They no longer have to compete in that hierarchical institution. #thedaywillandkategotmarried "
