Sadness at Hype Superclub closure: 'Winched many stunners in this fine establishment'

Hype Superclub in Motherwell will close its doors for a final time this month – after 15 years.

Also known as ‘Mega Bar’ to most in the town, Hype announced their plans to call it quits online last night.

However, they have promised one last hurrah before they say their goodbyes for the final time on Saturday, July 27.

They posted: “It is with great regret that we inform the people of Motherwell that after 15 years, Hype Superclub will close its doors for the last time on Saturday, July 27.

“We would like to thank all of our staff and customers over the years for the special memories held within the walls of this building.

“Details will be released this week of our Farewell Weekend Party – let’s give Hype the send-off it deserves.”

Many expressed their sadness over the news, with over 1000 people posting about their fondest memories from the last 15 years.

One said: “Absolutely devastated!”

Another added: “End of an era troops!”

Someone else commented: “So many great memories of Hype Club but also Mega Bar when it was open downstairs.”

And another said: “Best nights of our lives were spent in here!”

One said: “Devastating to wake up to the news the Mega Bar is in its death throes, there’s a great deal to be said for a pub with a takeaway built into it!”

Another wrote: “Winched many stunners in this fine establishment. Sad to see it go.”
