Sadness after body discovered in River Trent near Lady Bay

People have been left shocked after a body was found in the River Trent.

Police officers were called to the Lady Bay area at around 10am this morning (October 30).

An investigation has been launched after a body was discovered by a member of the public.

People in the local community expressed their sadness and shock upon hearing the news.

Irene Greenwood, 60, said: “That is terrible to hear.

“There was a police car just up on Lady Bay Bridge so I knew something was wrong.

“Of course it is shocking when anything like that happens."

However, Phil Palmer, 58, said: “It is absolutely not a surprise sadly.

“I’ve heard about many incidents at the River Trent quite recently."

In an earlier statement, Nottinghamshire Police said: "Police are investigating after a body was found in the River Trent.

"Officers were called by a member of the public following the discovery near the Lady Bay area at around 10am today (Saturday, October 30)."
