Sadio Mane wipes Liverpool misfit El Hadji Diouf from record books

Sadio Mane has already written himself into the history books at Liverpool, and now he’s done it again this time for his country.

The 29-year-old was in action for Senegal on Saturday as they faced Zambia in an international friendly.

Mane scored a goal and provided an assist for Senegal as they ran out 3-1 winners at the Stade Lat Dior.

The Reds No.10 was brought down in the penalty area in the 21st minute and subsequently scored the resulting spot-kick.

That strike was his 22nd for his country and moved into joint-third place in Senegal’s all-time top scorer list.

He is now level with Mamadou Diallo and behind second-placed Mamadou Niang, while Henri Camara occupies top spot with 31 goals.

Mane also leapfrogged former Liverpool striker El Hadji Diouf who now lies in fifth place in Senegal’s top scoring charts.

Monaco forward Krepin Diatta scored Senegal’s second goal against Zambia, while former Reds transfer target Ismaila Sarr was also on the scoresheet.

Mane will have the opportunity to add to his international goal tally when Senegal take on Cape Verde in their next friendly on Tuesday evening.

He is also closing in on a landmark at club level for Liverpool, with three away from reaching 100 since signing from Southampton back in the summer of 2016.
