Sadio Mane suspended by Bayern Munich after dressing room fight with Leroy Sane

Bayern Munich have confirmed Sadio Mane will be left out of the squad for their next match after a dressing room fight with team-mate Leroy Sane.

Mane was named on the bench on Tuesday night as Bayern faced Manchester City in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie, coming on for the final 20 minutes of the 3-0 defeat.

The former Liverpool forward was seen arguing on the pitch with Sane in the closing stages at the Etihad, and that disagreement then continued after the match.

Reports in Germany suggest that Mane punched Sane in the face, leaving him with a bloodied lip, before some of their team-mates had to jump in and separate the pair.

Mane will not be involved this weekend as Bayern host Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga, and will also receive a fine for the incident. It remains uncertain whether he will be involved next week for the second leg against City.

A Bayern statement read: “Sadio Mane, 31, will not be included in the FC Bayern squad for this Saturday’s home match against 1899 Hoffenheim.

“This is due to his misconduct after Bayern’s Champions League match at Manchester City. Mane will also be given a fine.”
