Sadio Mane surprised by Salzburg in Champions League as Mohamed Salah details 'tough' night mentally

Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane have been reacting to Liverpool's victory over RB Salzburg in the Champions League.

The reigning European Cup holders claimed their first win of this season's competition despite a second half scare at Anfield.

Having raced into a 3-0 lead after just 36 minutes thanks to goals from Mane, Andy Robertson and Salah, Jurgen Klopp's side were pegged back by the Austrian giants by the the hour mark.

Hwang Hee-Chan reduced the arrears six minutes before the interval, before two goals in four second half minutes from Takumi Minamino and Erling Braut Håland restored parity.

But, and like he so often does, Salah rescued the Reds when combined with Firmino before confidently past Cican Stanković at the Kop end.

"Wow, they was really good, honestly," Mane told BT Sport in the immediate aftermath.

"After 3-0 up and they come 3-3 it was a tight game, but we tried to push as a team like we always do.

"I think, to be honest, we deserved to win even though it was a tough game. You have to respect this type of team all the time so, three points, yeah.

"To be honest, I knew this team because I have been there for two-and-a-half-years, I know them they never give up, they push all the time, it is what they tried to do and they cause us problems, but we scored four goals, more than them."

While Salah added: "Yeah I think they had a good game and they scored three goals in the second half. It becomes difficult but we play to win again in Champions League, we are focusing on each game, we won and I'm happy.

"I think when we was winning three we need to score fourth and fifth and number six also. It is a little bit tough, the human body, the human mind is just like OK we are going to win, we are going to score again and again, but they made the game tough for us.

"But I'm happy to score the fourth goal and yeah we get the three points and that is the most important thing.

"I think it is very dangerous. I don't know about the first game, Napoli, the result I have no idea about it, but we have to think about each game that is the important thing."
