Sadio Mane sends message to Egypt fans convinced of rift with Mohamed Salah

Sadio Mane has ended any talk of a rift with Liverpool team-mate Mohamed Salah.

Reports of a rift between the attacking pair emerged after Mane reacted angrily towards Salah for failing to deliver a pass to him against Burnley on August 31.

But the pair have downplayed those rumours, with Mane now insisting the pair are "very, very good friends" and branding him the "Egyptian King".

Asked by an Egyptian reporter about the superstar after beating Monterrey 2-1 in the FIFA Club World Cup, Mane gave a clear response and urged the people of Egypt to continue supporting their superstar.

"What do you say about Salah?", Mane was asked by an Egyptian reporter in video shared on social media.

"Very, very good friends. The Egyptian King!" He replied.

In follow-up, he was asked: "No problem?".

"What kind of problem?" Mane replied with a smile, adding: "People, keep supporting Salah. He is doing everything for Egypt and he keeps fighting for Egypt, so see you soon in Egypt!"

Both Mane and Salah featured in their win over Monterrey, with Roberto Firmino scoring a late winner after Salah had set up Naby Keita for their first goal.

The pair are expected to start in Saturday's final against Flamengo as they bid to win the competition for the first time in their history.

Despite a man of the match performance, Salah was left frustrated by a lack of protection from officials in the semi-final.

"I think it was a tough game," Salah told a news conference.

"They were very aggressive against us and all of us were complaining about our legs and they were really aggressive.

"I think in the end we showed our quality and we won in the last minute. I think we deserved it."
