And the former Southampton has explained what has been asked of the squad as the title chase enters the final few weeks.

Mane told the Sunday Mirror: "It’s very clear to us what we have to do. We want to win all our remaining seven games, and wait for Manchester City to crack.

"Every one will be a final and we cannot fail in any of them if we want to be champions.

"The message is that we must be ready for two hard months and the key is to forget about Manchester City and focus only on the matches and nothing else. In my mind success depends on us - and only us."

First up for Liverpool is the team directly below them in the league and a raucous atmosphere is expected for the visit from Mauricio Pochettino's Spurs.

Mane has called on the club's supporters to give the players every advantage they can between now and May 12.

"It’s the first game in two vital months that will decide the title," Mane added. "The players are ready and my message to the fans is to trust us and support us to the very maximum.

“I know they will  and in return we will try to win all the trophies we can this season.”
