Sadio Mane makes Thiago Alcantara prediction as he assesses Liverpool transfers

Sadio Mane is confident Liverpool's £20million signing Thiago Alcantara will take the Premier League champions "to another level" this season.

The Reds landed priority transfer target Thiago last week after many months pursuing the former Bayern Munich man.

The Spain star moved to Anfield on a four-year deal and provided his new teammates with a glimpse of what they can expect from him with an impressive second-half performance against Chelsea last weekend.

Replacing injured midfielder Jordan Henderson at the interval with the match goalless, Thiago helped guide Liverpool to a 2-0 victory at Stamford Bridge and broke a Premier League record in the process.

And Mane, who grabbed both goals for the Reds, gave a glowing verdict on the former Barcelona man during an interview with Liverpool’s official website .

"I think not only the fans are excited to see Thiago," said the Senegalese. "For sure, especially me and my teammates were really happy to have this kind of quality in our squad. It only makes us better.

"I can see from day one in training and the game against Chelsea what he is doing. I’m sure he will take us to another level, for sure."

After his substitute appearance against the Blues, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp said Thiago was "in contention" to face Arsenal in Monday night's Premier League clash.

"We will see, we have a few days to train," said Klopp. "Some of the boys have to recover from last night, so we will see how we set up against Arsenal.

"I have an idea but why should I make the decision today when we have time until Monday? But he’s in, he’s in contention. So let’s see."

Meanwhile, Mane also hailed Liverpool's other new signings, adding: "We’re looking forward to seeing Kostas Tsimikas and Diogo Jota as well, who is a really good signing for us. I’m really happy to have him as well.

"They are good players and they will also take us to another level, which for us is something incredible, and for the fans as well."
