Sadio Mane makes penalty claim and sends title message after Liverpool beat Spurs

Sadio Mane has declared that Liverpool are desperate to win the Premier League title as well as insisting he was brought down for a penalty by Serge Aurier.

The Reds came from behind to beat Tottenham 2-1 at Anfield today and moved six points clear at the top of the table.

Harry Kane had given the visitors the lead inside one minute, but Jordan Henderson levelled proceedings at the start of the second half.

Mohamed Salah then completed the turnaround when he hammered home a penalty after Mane had been brought down by Aurier inside the box.

“A little bit of relief, obviously,” Reds skipper Henderson said when asked about his thoughts post-match by Sky.

“We were hanging on at the end a little bit, but delighted with three points. First half I thought we played really well.

“Obviously we didn’t start well conceding the goal, but the reaction I thought was brilliant and we could have had a couple of goals but the keeper made some great saves.

“We just wanted to keep the momentum second half and we knew that if we did that we would find the net.

“And thankfully we managed to do that so got to be delighted with the three points.”

And Mane added: "I was thinking 'we're going to come back'.

"We pushed as a team and after a great many chances we scored the two goals. We deserved to win."

On the spot-kick incident, he added: "It was a clear penalty. I tried to put my leg between him and the ball, and it was unlucky for Serge Aurier and lucky for me.

"It's too early to speak about the title, but sure, we want to win it. Right, Jordan?"
