Sadio Mane honours Liverpool goal celebration promise to Roberto Firmino and fans love it

Liverpool star Sadio Mane knows a thing or two about finding the back of the net and now he is making plenty of headlines for his choice of celebration.

Mane scored his first goal of the new season when he gave Liverpool a brief 2-1 lead in the club's European Super Cup victory over Chelsea on Wednesday.

He then proceeded to produce a celebration much like Roberto Firmino's.

And that certainly did not escape the attention of the Brazilian, who provided this response on Instagram: "Sadii don't copy (sic) me please," the forward said complete with a crying laughing and a hand over the face emoji.

However, Mane was undeterred and promised that he would continue the copying trend by responding: "Huh? It's different to yours Bobby!

"This is going to be my new celebration for this season! Don't already discourage me!"

Lo and behold, Mane stepped up to the plate in the second half of L iverpool's 2-1 win at Southampton by not only scoring a cracker but also stealing Firmino's celebration once more.

And Reds fans on social media were loving it:

There was still time for Firmino to get his own back as the Brazilian netted before Danny Ings grabbed what proved to be a consolation goal for Southampton.

Ings did threaten to make it 2-2, but missed the target.

And the Reds ground out the win to secure a big three points after their Super Cup exertions in midweek.
