Sadio Mane gives green light to Kylian Mbappe transfer amid Mo Salah contract uncertainty

Sadio Mane has given Liverpool the green light to sign Kylian Mbappe by telling the Paris Saint-Germain star that he would enjoy playing at Anfield.

With Mbappe's PSG contract expiring in June, a host of top clubs are lining up to sign the French superstar for free and Mane hopes that the two can become teammates.

"Sure! It would be an exceptional partnership," the Liverpool forward told L'Equipe, via Marca. "He just has to come to Liverpool. I'm sure he would like it."

While Mbappe's next destination is likely to be Real Madrid, the Reds have tentatively been linked with a transfer swoop and the France international could replace Mohamed Salah, whose deal at Anfield expires in 15 months' time.

In what could be good news on Merseyside, Mbappe has previously admitted that his future remains undecided - much like Salah's.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp recently shed light on the saga-like situation, insisting that his club "cannot do much more" to convince the 29-year-old to commit his future.

"Mo expects this club to be ambitious," Klopp told a news conference on Friday. "We cannot do much more. It is Mo's decision.

"It is all fine from my point of view. Nothing happened further, no signing or rejection. We just have to wait, there's no rush."

Salah, however, has frequently expressed his desire to stay put and claimed his demands - reportedly £300,000 per week - are not "crazy."

"I want to stay, but it's not in my hands. It's in their hands. They know what I want. I'm not asking for crazy stuff," he told GQ in January.

"The thing is when you ask for something and they show you they can give you something (they should) because they appreciate what you did for the club.

"I've been here for my fifth year now. I know the club very well. I love the fans. The fans love me. But with the administration, they have (been) told the situation. It's in their hands."

While Mbappe's arrival would be exciting, Salah's exit would undoubtedly rock the Reds, having been their talisman for much of this season and scoring in Saturday's crucial 2-0 win against Brighton on Saturday.

But four minutes after his goal, the Egyptian was brought off due to injury and Klopp provided an update post-match.

"We will see," the Anfield boss said to BT Sport. "He thinks it's not serious but you can see when Mo Salah is sitting down then something is not 100 per cent right.

"I think it was the situation before when he hit the ball and got blocked – he wanted to shoot and got blocked and I think the foot got slightly overstretched. We have to see."
