Sadio Mane "doesn't want to stay at Liverpool forever" says Senegal teammate

Sadio Mane's Senegal teammate Keita Balde has said the forward "doesn't want to stay at Liverpool forever".

The Reds frontman has been attracting interest from Real Madrid in recent seasons due to his impressive form, which has seen him emerge as a contender for The PFA's Player of the Year award.

Madrid are reportedly lining up a summer swoop for the 28-year-old, with Zinedine Zidane making Mane his top transfer target.

Liverpool do not seemingly have any intentions of selling Mane, though Balde has suggested his international colleague may have other ideas in future.

"It depends on many things," Monaco star Balde told AS . "I don’t know what his decision is. In a year or two, you may want to change.

"I don’t think he wants to be there forever. He is a smart boy and he knows what is good for him and what he has to do. But in Madrid they are giving out many names."

Mane is under contract with Liverpool until 2023, and the player himself revealed last April how his plan was to write his name into the history books at Anfield.

He said: "Of course I want to be a legend not only for Liverpool but also in the Premier League story, and that is one of my targets.

"Like I have always said, I am very happy to play for this club and every single day I am enjoying being here and trying to do everything to win something for this club."

But having become a European and World champion with Liverpool since then, Mane is already on his way to securing legendary status.

And with Liverpool on course to end their 30-year wait for a domestic title, there is little else for Mane left to achieve at Anfield.

However Balde feels Mane would only ever leave Merseyside for a special opportunity.

"The coach loves him very much," Balde added. "He has given a lot to Liverpool and Liverpool to him.

"Something very attractive has to come for him to leave Liverpool. A big team would have to come and promise him many things to think about it.

"He’s a great boy. He deserves the best. He is humble and nobody has given him anything. He deserves to be where he is today."
