Sadio Mane could be set for iconic Liverpool reunion after Roberto Firmino transfer

Sadio Mane could be set to link up with Roberto Firmino in Saudi Arabia, with the former Liverpool winger linked to a departure from Bayern Munich this summer.

Firmino has been announced as an Al-Ahli player, with the 31-year-old joining the Saudi Pro League side officially following his departure from Liverpool on a free transfer. Mane could now reunite with his ex-Liverpool colleague following a failure to establish himself at Bayern Munich.

Bayern Munich are thought to be open to offers for Mane this summer, with the Senegalese international having endured a tough debut season at Bayern despite winning the Bundesliga. The 31-year-old scored just 12 goals in all competitions for his new club and fell out of favour with manager Thomas Tuchel.

Now, journalist Fabrizio Romano has commented on a potential reunion, saying that Al-Ahli are keen to arrange a reunion between the pair. Between them, they played 631 matches for Liverpool - spending six seasons together as part of an iconic front three alongside Mohamed Salah.

There have been calls from Saudi Arabia for Salah to also make the move, but the Egyptian is set to remain at Anfield as the last remaining member of the famed attacking unit. Together, they won the Champions League in 2019 before a Premier League triumph in 2020.

Al-Ahli are one of the Saudi Pro League's four biggest clubs, with the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF) having acquired a 75% stake in Al Ittihad, Al-Nassr and Al Hilal. This has sparked a flurry of investment from the league, with a series of big names, including Karim Benzema and now Firmino part of the summer spending spree.

Mane could join Senegal teammate Edouard Mendy in making a move to Al-Ahli, with the former Chelsea goalkeeper confirmed to have made a move last week.
