Sadio Mane believed a selection of Southampton players did not want him to score goals according to former team-mate Victor Wanyama.
Wanyama claims Mane asked him to specifically pass the ball to him during their time together under Mauricio Pochettino and Ronald Koeman at St. Mary's.
The Senegalese forward joined Liverpool in 2016 but forged a close bond with Wanyama, who currently turns out for Canadian outfit Montreal Impact in the MLS after a spell at Tottenham Hotspur.
“We were like a family under one father Pochettino but I and Mane forged a bigger brotherhood bond but [Morgan] Schneiderlin was also a great friend,” the Kenyan told Madgoat TV via Goal.
“At one point, Mane approached me and told me, 'Hi man, these guys do not want to pass the ball to me, can the two of us play closely. They do not want me to score.' I reluctantly agreed and anytime I got the ball I would pass it to him though.
“I wanted to treat him right since he is a good and nice guy.”
