Sadio Mane and Jordan Henderson injury latest as Liverpool sweat on duo

Liverpool are facing an anxious wait to discover the extent of the injuries suffered by Sadio Mane and Jordan Henderson during the November international break.

The Senegalese was substituted in the first half against Togo on Thursday night after appeared to collide with a defender in the process of going up for a header, with it since reported that the forward is waiting on the result of a X-ray to determine the severity of the injury.

Meanwhile, the Reds captain has withdrawn from the England squad and returned to Anfield for 'further assessment of an injury', which as of yet is unspecified.

The ECHO understands that the duo will be assessed by Liverpool over the next 48 hours as the Reds wait to discover the extent of their injuries, which could leave the pair as doubts for next weekend's clash with Arsenal despite both Senegal and England managers Aliou Cisse and Gareth Southgate playing down the setbacks.

Cisse said of Mane : “Yes, the exit of Sadio Mane destabilized us. He is an important player for the team, we took him off as a precaution and there is nothing serious.”

Meanwhile, Southgate said regarding Henderson : “With Hendo, [it happened] within the game. There's a precaution with both [Henderson and Jack Grealish].

“We’ve scanned them. There is small injuries on the scans so we just hope that they’re not going to miss too much football from here on.

“It shouldn’t be too bad in either case but we just have to see how that progresses.”

Either way, it remains to be seen whether Mane will feature for Senegal against Congo on Sunday night, though Henderson has been ruled out of England's clash with San Marino on Monday.
