Sadio Mane admits surprise at James Milner's assist for Liverpool goal

Sadio Mane has admitted his surprise at James Milner's assist for Liverpool's opening goal against Leicester on Saturday as the Reds continued their winning streak.

The Senegalese latched on to Milner's pass as the two combined to open the scoring on the 40th minute against the Foxes.

Liverpool ran out 2-1 winners come the final whistle, thanks to a 95th minute penalty from Milner to continue their now 17 game win streak.

And Mane has now revealed that he was surprised at just how good the former England internationals pass was in order for him to score his 50th goal on his 100th appearance.

"The assist was just incredible," said Mane.

"I didn't expect that he saw me because usually he never gives me that kind of ball!

"It was just a great assist from Milner and I just try to finish each ball.

"Lucky boy, I just finished this one and I'm happy to score a goal, especially as we got the three points."

On the dramatic victory, Mane said: "To be honest, I think it was a really, really tough game. We knew that before and expected it.

"We played the Champions League and now we carry on with this intense game. But it's normal, it's the Premier League and we have to expect it all the time.

"At the end of the day, the most important thing is the three points, it doesn't matter how tired we are."
