A SCOTTISH community has reacted after a much-loved local cafe announced its closure.
Arturo's in the southside of Glasgow is in its last week of trading after 13 years, and the owner is moving on to "new beginnings".
The Carmunnock Road eatery in Mount Florida was popular in the local community for its authentic Portuguese delicacies such as pastel de nata and bifanas (pork sandwiches), as well as a range of other sandwiches and pastries.
Making the announcement to their social media followers, a cafe spokesperson said: "For those of you who don’t know already this will be our last week as Arturo will be hanging up his apron and moving on to new beginnings.
"For those who know Arturo well it will be no surprise if he pops up again in the future somewhere but our immediate plan is to enjoy and spend more time with our family and friends. "A massive thank you from us to everyone who shared our incredible journey and helped us create a little slice of Portugal in Glasgow. It’s been our pleasure and we will miss you all!"
The news has since been met with dozens of responses from disappointed regulars, one of whom said: "Gutted. Arturo's is always top-class. Best of luck."
Another wrote: "Mount Florida is losing a gem."
A third added: "Och sad news. Such a lovely place. All the best, Arturo."
