'Sad' Naby Keita claim made as Jurgen Klopp gives Liverpool injury update

Gabriel Agbonlahor has praised Naby Keita’s recent performances for Liverpool.

The Guinean midfielder has been in fine form of late, scoring in the away wins over Atletico Madrid and Manchester United respectively.

Keita hobbled off with an injury during the Reds’ 5-0 win at Old Trafford last Sunday, after being on the wrong end of a two footed tackle from United’s Paul Pogba.

However, Jurgen Klopp revealed he will be available for Saturday’s game against Brighton.

The 26-year-old has struggled to establish himself at Anfield since arriving from RB Leipzig in 2018, managing only seven Premier League starts last season.

However, former Aston Villa striker Agbonlahor claims Liverpool are now starting to see the best of the Guinean star.

“It was a shame for him to get that injury [against Man United],” Agbonlahor told Football Insider.

“He scored again, and was making some good runs. It’s definitely something that was sad.

"I’m sure he’ll get his chance again in the team because I think Klopp would have been happy with his recent performances.

“He came off in the game before [against Atletico Madrid] but against Man United he was outstanding.”

Keita has made 85 appearances for Reds scoring 10 goals and notching five assists during his time on Merseyside. His contract at Anfield runs until the summer of 2023.
