A very popular Dublin cafe has confirmed that they have had to make the 'very unfortunate' decision to close their doors forever in a move that has shocked regulars.
Avoca Cafe in Malahide shut up shop for the last time on Sunday evening much to the disbelief of those looking to sit in for their morning coffee today.
The business located at the Castle and Gardens in the area will still continue its food shop, clothes shop, gift shop and deli but punters will no longer be able to have a sit down chit-chat in the cafe.
Opened in October 2012, the self-service, 170-seater cafe boasts an outdoor terrace overlooking the beautiful walled gardens of the castles.
A spokeswoman for the cafe told Dublin Live that it was "very unfortunate" that the store was closing down and thanked her staff for their years of hard work.
She also wanted to say a huge thanks to all of their customers over the years who helped support the cafe.
One regular said that the decision would be extremely hard to take for the staff.
They said: "It’s very sad. The poor staff were only told recently that they would be losing their jobs.
"It's a very difficult decision and it's going to be very hard on those who have been there since day one."
Another added: "Oh no. Very sorry to hear that news. The place will be greatly missed."
