The South Dublin community of Firhouse were left in shock by the announcement of the immediate closure of a hairdressers in the area for generations.
The much-loved salon was based in Firhouse Shopping Centre.
‘Hair by Suzanne’ announced their closure on Facebook, a post that signaled the end of an era for countless Firhouse families.
The shop has been in the Dublin suburb for 25 years and has been a vital part of the community.
They said: “It’s with a heavy heart I have to announce closing of ‘Hair by Suzanne’ with immediate effect.
“It has been a privilege and pleasure to have been part of the community for the last 25 years and getting to know so many wonderful people.
“Unfortunately due to my declining health issues- I am no longer able to continue the running of the shop.
“I want to take this opportunity to thank my staff and everyone for your continued support over the years and creating so many wonderful memories for me.”
The post was signed off by Paul, Gillian and Laura.
Locals expressed their gratitude to the hairdressers that has been a part of the area for a quarter of a century.
One resident said: “I’m so sorry to hear this,
“You will all be sorely missed,
“You have been an integral part of Firhouse for so long.
“So much more than getting your hair done.
“There was genuine care for our families and our welfare.”
Another grateful local thanked the staff for all of their hard work.
They said: “Really sad- three generations of my family have been there.
“They’ve been part of christenings, weddings and communions.”
