Sacked former Emmerdale star lands huge new role in Disney production

A former Emmerdale star who was sacked from the soap has landed a huge new role in a Disney production.

Asan N'Jie used to play the character of Ellis Chapman in the popular ITV series before he was sacked four years ago.

The 28-year-old was sacked from his rol e after footage emerged of him threatening to stab Hollyoaks' Jamie Lomas at the 2019 TV Choice Awards.

However, his career is now looking up following the situation as he is now due to star alongside John Travolta in Christmas film The Shepard which is due to be released later on this year.

The film is based on the novel from Frederick Forsyth which follows a fighter pilot who gets lost on their way home on Christmas eve.

Asan took to his social media to post a photo from IMBD that also shows that fellow cast members Dalgleish's Steven Mackintosh and The Split's Millie Kent are set to be involved.

Despite leaving Emmerdale on bad terms, Asan has appeared in BBC1's Bloodlands opposite James Nesbitt and BBC2's Industry since.

During the 2019 fight that led to his sacking, Asan was seen throwing a punch at his fellow actor Jamie and shouting: "I'm going to f*****g kill you" in front of other people.

While on Emmerdale, he had been involved in a knife attack plot before the incident.

In a clip from the night, he could be heard saying: "Do you think you are a f*****g big man? I'm going to f*****g kill you. I'm going to f*****g knife you."

After the then-Emmerdale actor threw the punch, Malique Thompson-Dwyer ran to intervene and pull Jamie out.

Following the attack, an ITV spokesperson told MailOnline : "Emmerdale suspended Asan N'Jie pending further investigation into an incident at a central London hotel.

"ITV executives have met with him this morning and as a consequence Asan's contract has been terminated with immediate effect."

N'jie apologised following the situation, saying: "My behaviour at the TV Choice Awards was completely unacceptable and very much out of character.

"I am devastated, accept full responsibility and am determined to learn from this."
