Sacked Cambuslang Rangers star blasts back at club's 'touting himself' claim

A West of Scotland Football League side have been embroiled in a spat with one of their now former players after taking to Twitter to announce his sacking.

After achieving promotion to the Premier Division last season under co-managers Billy Campbell and Paul McColl, the Somervell Park side have found life in the league's top tier difficult and have suffered relegation. Players and clubs of all levels will be looking towards the new season ahead in terms of recruitment but Cambuslang have blasted player Grant Brennan for looking to speak with teams before the term's closure.

And they have since gone to Twitter to confirm his departure: "Cambuslang Rangers can announce today that Grant Brennan has been sacked from the team. The reason for this is due to him touting himself to other teams behind the management firms back. As a club we are bitterly disappointed as he has let the management and his fellow players down during a time we were fighting to avoid being relegated from the premier league."

Now Brennan has hit back. He replied to the tweet with: "Just to clarify I haven’t touted myself to any clubs during my time at Cambuslang I done everything I could to avoid relegation during my time there."
