'Sack Emery' - Arsenal fans fume at Raul Sanllehi after Lucas Torreira 'makes transfer decision'

Lucas Torreira is unhappy at Arsenal and has told the club that he wants to leave in January, according to reports.

According to Calciomercato, the midfielder is unsatisfied with life in north London and doesn't understand his role in Unai Emery's project.

The report claims that the Uruguayan international will request that the Gunners listen to offers for him in January when the window reopens.

Torreira was a mainstay of the Arsenal first team in his first season following a £27million move from Sampdoria, but this term the 23-year-old has been behind Granit Xhaka, Matteo Guendouzi and Dani Ceballos in the pecking order for the majority of games.

Of Arsenal's 12 Premier League games this campaign, Torreira has only started four with the majority of his appearances coming in the Europa League and Carabao Cup.

Torreira was pictured in tears when former captain Xhaka was substituted to jeers from Arsenal fans during the draw with Crystal Palace last month, and he has also previously admitted to preferring life in Italy to living in England.

“I don’t know if there’s a lot of things that I’m enjoying [in England] because I think I liked living in Italy more,” he told reporters on international duty in June.

Unai Emery believes he can recover from criticism

“London is a completely different world and England is a very big country.”

Reports during the summer claimed AC Milan would be ‘interested in taking advantage of the discontent’, but Torreira's agent, Pablo Bentancur, said at the time that Arsenal had no intention of selling the midfielder.

"There was the possibility," he told TMW when asked if  Milan wanted to sign Torreira.

"Giampaolo is in the heart of Lucas. But Arsenal said they had no intention of selling the boy. Lucas is fine, the company is happy with him. This will be the year of consecration. With the Arsenal shirt.

"Milan is Milan, it will always be an important team, even if today it has some economic problems."

With the fresh reports linking Torreira with a move away, Arsenal supporters have taken to social media to blame head coach Emery for the situation.
