Legendary batsman Sachin Tendulkar’s upcoming biopic ‘Sachin: A Billion Dreams’ is all set to hit the theatres on Friday and fans across the globe are eager to know more about the man who usually maintains a very private life. Sachin Tendulkar has admitted that there would be snippets from his personal life in the movie, but only those with which the family members felt comfortable.

Nonetheless, there should be a separate segment earmarked for his wife Anjali with whom he completes 22 years of marriage on Thursday.

Sachin has often admitted that it was Anjali’s support that has helped him stay concentrated on cricket throughout as she took care of everything else in the family, besides stating that telling his parents about Anjali was way more difficult than facing the world’s dreaded fast bowlers.

They tied the knot in 1995, five years after meeting each other at an airport and are now proud parents of two kids — Arjun and Sara.

At an India Today conclave a few years back, Anjali spoke of how things started between the two.

“I didn’t know who he was, whether he was 17 or whatever. I looked at him at the airport and found him to be really cute. My friend Aparna was there with me and she knew him and told me this was the ‘wonder boy of Indian cricket everyone was talking about’ but I didn’t know anything about cricket. I just ran after him.”

And the craziness just didn’t end there. In an episode of What the Duck with Vikram Sathaye, Sachin even admitted that whenever he used to step out to bat, Anjali didn’t even touch water and had a separate spot in the house where she would sit as long as he would be at the crease.

However, this was only after she made a thorough effort to know the game her husband had been ruling at will.

During his farewell speech at the Wankhede Stadium in 2013, an emotional Sachin said: “I know Anjali being a doctor, there was a wonderful career in front of her. When we decided to have a family, Anjali decided to step back and say ‘you continue with your cricket and I’ll take responsibility of the family’.

“Without that, I don’t think I would have been able to play cricket freely and without any stress. Thanks for bearing with all my fuss and frustrations and all sorts of rubbish I’ve spoken. You’re the best partnership I’ve had in my life.”
