Actor and comedian Sacha Baron Cohen has said all men have homosexual tendencies, claiming he is “23 per cent gay”.
Speaking to the Sun, Cohen said every man has “homosexual leanings”, adding the terms “straight” and “gay” are trivial.
“Straight or gay are silly terms. There’s a scale," he said.
“Everyone is somewhere in the scale. I’m 23 per cent gay. I’ve worked it out, did the calculations."
“There are times I go to 17 – sometimes I’m 31, depends on the situation. When I was doing Borat and I had the testicles at my chin I was 31, ” he said, referring to his past role playing a controversial man from Kazakhstan.
The 44-year-old, who was educated at Cambridge University, said studies show that homophobic males are attracted to men.
“It’s guys struggling with their sexuality who go and beat up other guys,” he said.
Cohen made the comments following the release of his new film, Grimsby, which tells the story of the anti-hero Norman “Nobby” Grimbsy – an English football hooligan who lives in the northern town.
Cohen stars in the film alongside his wife, the actress Isla Fisher. The pair, who have three children together, met at a party in 2002 and married in March 2010.
In December the pair donated more than £670,000 to a The Sunday Times Christmas appeal to help protect 250,000 children against a threatened measles outbreak in Syria.
In the same month Cohen also revived his comedic character Borat on Jimmy Kimmel Live, in order to mock Donald Trump’s divisive comments about Muslims during the business mogul's Republican presidential campaign.
