Sacha Baron Cohen confirms release date of new Ali G film ‘Who iz I?’

• Sacha Baron Cohen has revealed the title and release date for a new film reviving one of his most infamous characters, Ali G .
• In a video posted to Instagram, the comedian announced Who iz I? would premiere in cinemas on October 23, while dressed in character as the fictional Staines-based hip hop enthusiast.
• Speaking in Ali G’s mock urban accent, Cohen declared: “I is back with my first movie in over 20 decades.” Fans were quick to point out the comedian’s apparent deliberate faux pas, given his previous film Ali G Indahouse was released in 2002 .
• Rumours have been swirling of a return after Cohen appeared dressed as Ali G at the Wimbledon Men’s Final on 12 July. The actor attended the match wearing a distinctive marijuana-themed suit and a hat that read ‘Ali Gear’.
• Variety reported earlier this year the forthcoming movie was filmed in secret and has already wrapped production.
