‘Sabrina’ film to tell life story of Texans WR Deandre Hopkins’ mother

Many people know who Houston Texans receiver DeAndre Hopkins is, and now they will have a chance to know his mother’s life story.

BRON Studios announced Monday they have partnered with Good Fear and Kituufu Films to develop and produce “Sabrina,” the story of Hopkins’ mother, Sabrina Greenlee, as a feature film.

Set to be directed by Sam Bailey, and written by Kristen Buckley, the film will depict Greenlee’s true life story. In an official press release, the story was summarized as follows:

When a young, single mother is attacked and left for dead she finds herself in a battle to change the course of her life and stay on the new path she’s created for herself and her four children.

Part of the reason why Hopkins wanted to be public about his mother’s life is because he believes her sacrifices need to be acknowledged.

“My mom has always put everyone before herself and sacrificed things unimaginable,” Hopkins said in a statement. “Now it’s time for people to see her true value and learn that giving up is not an option.”

“BRON prides itself on telling real, human stories that highlight the strength of spirit,” studio co-founder Aaron L. Gilbert said in a statement. “When I heard the story of this extraordinary woman and her incredible family, we had to get involved,” Gilbert went on to say.

This will undoubtedly be an inspiring film that seeks to do Greenlee justice. While there is no official release date as of yet, according to a spokesperson for the project, it could be released as early as next year.

Everyone has a story to tell, some more arduous than others’. The lives and backgrounds of many NFL players are well known and publicized, with many being immortalized on the silver screen or in the form of a novel. 2009’s “The Blind Side” depicted former offensive lineman Michael Oher’s troubled youth and journey into football.
