Sabri Lamouchi reveals Nottingham Forest's stance over Chema amid Almeria link

Head coach Sabri Lamouchi has dismissed speculation linking Nottingham Forest defender Chema with a January move.

Reports in his homeland suggested the Spaniard was close to joining Almeria, having made 10 appearances in the Garibaldi since his summer move.

The 27-year-old joined on transfer deadline day in August, putting pen to paper on a two-year deal, but has found himself in and out of the side since then.

However, he has been a regular in recent weeks - albeit at left-back - and Lamouchi is keen to hang on to him.

“I am not talking about rumours,” said the Frenchman.

“Chema is playing, he is happy here.

“I don’t have any information from the club. And for me, he is with us until the end of the season.

“We are looking for players, not to sell some players - and good players.”

The Reds are yet to add to their squad during the window, with a striker and a winger

The former is a particular priority given the departure of Rafa Mir, which leaves Lewis Grabban as the only recognised forward in the ranks.

Mir’s loan spell from Wolverhampton Wanderers was cut short as he struggled to make an impact at the City Ground, and he has since joined Spanish side SD Huesca.

Lamouchi admits other fringe players could follow, if they wish to seek regular game time, having already conceded goalkeeper Arijanet Muric could return to parent club Manchester City early.

“Just by choice, just because they want to play more and we can probably find a solution,” Lamouchi said of potential departures.

“But not the players who are part of the project, not the players who are playing, not the players who can help us to win games.

“It was the plan for Rafa. He has signed for a new club. It’s a new experience for him.

“All the best for Rafa, he’s a nice guy and a very good professional.”
