Sabri Lamouchi reveals new duo working on Nottingham Forest January transfer plans

Head coach Sabri Lamouchi says two key off the field appointments can be “good” for Nottingham Forest as the club looks towards the January transfer window.

Francois Modesto was announced as the Reds’ technical director earlier this week, while fellow Frenchman Jose Anigo was unveiled as the club’s head of international recruitment.

Both are understood to have already been working at the club for some time before their appointments were confirmed, with Modesto playing an important role in the arrival of Lamouchi and working closely with him since.

“It is good for the club. They are working for the future,” Lamouchi said.

“I know them from before, so it is good to have them with us.

“They help because the manager cannot do everything alone, so they anticipate some (transfer) windows and the (transfer) market, and to work for the long-term with the club.”

Modesto represented the likes of Monaco, Cagliari, Bastia and Olympiacos during his playing career, then returned to the latter as chief scout after hanging up his boots.

Since switching to the City Ground, he is understood to have travelled with the squad for their pre-season training camps in Spain and Greece, and now travels with them to away matches.

His focus is on the recruitment for the first-team, having a technical role, while director of football Kyriakos Dourekas will focus on the operational side.

It is believed Modesto played a key role in Forest’s summer transfer window targets.

Anigo has held various roles at Olympique de Marseille, including academy director and first-team coach, as well as general manager.

He helped to recruit the likes of Didier Drogba, Franck Ribery and Hatem Ben Arfa for the French club.

He has also previously been head coach of Esperance Tunis in Tunisia and Greek clubs Levadiakos and Panionios.

Anigo is also understood to have been involved in the Reds’ summer recruitment, specifically the signings of midfielder Samba Sow and goalkeeper Brice Samba.

Lamouchi says having both his fellow countrymen in place shows the club is already looking ahead to the winter transfer window - but his own focus remains on what happens on the pitch.

Asked if the announcement of Modesto and Anigo comes with a view to January, Lamouchi said: “Yes, but this is not my job for now.

“Before January we have 14 games to play, so I just want to focus on my job on the pitch now.

“But the club starts to work for the future, of course.

“My long-term is to the next international break, for me. We have five games and I just want to focus on those five games.”
