Sabri Lamouchi praises Nottingham Forest's character as ex-Red expresses management hopes

Steely mentality

Head coach Sabri Lamouchi believes Nottingham Forest have the right “character” to challenge in the Championship.

For the second game in succession, the Reds were forced to come from behind on Tuesday as they  claimed a 1-1 draw at Blackburn Rovers - on a night when they had been far from at their best.

They had done the same at Stoke City on Friday, rallying to triumph 3-2 against the Potters to briefly top the table.

And Lamouchi says such steely mentality and battling qualities can carry them far as they look to mount a promotion push.

Plans explained

Fresh paperwork has been submitted regarding the proposed redevelopment of Nottingham Forest’s City Ground.

And it has prompted some degree of speculation.

A letter sent to Rushcliffe Borough Council from property consultants Savills, on behalf of the Championship club, states: “The proposals would increase the stadium capacity from the existing 30,000 up to 36,000 seats.” A listing of the existing and proposed capacities of each stand then follows.

And that particular line seems to have got some people questioning whether the Reds’ original plans to turn the City Ground into a 38,000 capacity stadium has been scaled back.

But NottinghamshireLive understands that is not the case.

Team selection

Nottingham Forest head coach Sabri Lamouchi says Tobias Figueiredo’s aerial ability gave him the edge when it came to picking his team to face Blackburn Rovers.

The Portuguese made his first league appearance of the season at Ewood Park, as he came into the starting line-up in place of the injured Michael Dawson.

Summer signing Chema had replaced Dawson  when he went off with a calf problem at Stoke City last week, but found himself on the bench in Tuesday night’s 1-1 draw.

“I didn’t play Chema just for one reason - because we were away and up against a tall player like Sam Gallagher,” Lamouchi explained.

Keane's hopes

Roy Keane believes he deserves another shot at a return to first team management, eight years on from leaving Ipswich Town, but hopes that his reputation has not put off potential employers.

The Nottingham Forest and Manchester United legend has not been in a permanent role since then but has instead worked under Martin O'Neill as the duo took charge of Republic of Ireland and at the City Ground.

But since departing the club in June, hopeful that he would be able to find a role as a permanent manager, Keane has been without a job.

Marked man

The general consensus would seem to be that Joe Lolley has not played as well this season as he did last for Nottingham Forest, says Reds legend Garry Birtles.

That is something I would go along with, but yet he has four goals in 11 games, including two in his last two.

He obviously had a massive purple patch last season before dropping off in the last few weeks, when it was pretty much a case of stop Joe Lolley, stop Nottingham Forest.

This season he is still a marked man, if not more so than ever. In the build-up to the Blackburn game we heard Tony Mowbray pick him out as a threat to his team.
