Sabri Lamouchi on how he plans to go about achieving promotion for Nottingham Forest

Sabri Lamouchi did not need Evangelos Marinakis to outline the expectations he requires him to meet at Nottingham Forest - because he says he shares them already.

The new Reds boss says his goal is to deliver promotion at the City Ground.

But it is something he feels can only be achieved together - and not by him alone.

Lamouchi’s target is to deliver success on the banks of the Trent and he believes he knows how to go about achieving that.

“The owner does not need to tell me what he wants - everyone knows what he wants,” said Lamouchi, who took charge of his first Forest game yesterday, during the training camp in Spain.

“Every fan wants the same thing for Forest as well. This is my goal. But my job is not to think about what is happening in April and May, but what is happening in August, right now.

“We will continue to work on this training camp, we will continue to work through pre-season, in order to find the right solutions for us.

“I want to bring more quality. We have a lot of quality already, but I want to bring more quality. I want to bring not only the players with us on the journey; not just the staff and everyone else at the club, but also the fans.

“We want to create an atmosphere around the whole club. This is a war. We need to show people what we can do on the pitch. We will do that.”

It will be a tough challenge for Lamouchi to assess his squad, decide who he wants to keep - and let go - and where he needs to strengthen before the season starts - and the transfer window closes.

But he made a quick impact at Rennes in his previous job, where he turned them from a side fighting relegation into one that qualified for Europe, between taking over in November 2017 and the end of that season.

“In my last job, I signed the contract on the day of my birthday - it was a fantastic experience there,” he said.

“But this is a different challenge and it is so important, not for me, but for all the people connected with Forest; for all of the people who trust this squad and this group.

“It is a big responsibility.  Many people have tried before (to bring success) and I will try too. Of course, it will be in my way, it will be with my heart and my spirit.

“With that, I am sure that we have a lot of things to do together.

“It is not only a new division for me. It is totally different.

“I am so excited; I am so determined to give my best for this shirt and for this club.”
