Sabri Lamouchi issues powerful and poignant message to Cardiff City fans as he vows 'we will come back stronger than ever'

Sabri Lamouchi has issued a strong end-of-season message to Cardiff City supporters and has vowed to come back "stronger than ever".

It comes as Lamouchi's future hangs in the balance, with the Frenchman set to meet owner Vincent Tan this week to discuss their shared visions for the club in an attempt to reach a resolution over the manager's contract. Lamouchi's deal currently runs out in June, but he has insisted on more than one occasion that he is happy in the Welsh capital and hopes he can continue working with the club next season.

He said he hoped to meet Tan this week and that he would know more about what is possible with regards to next season and beyond after that. One thing is for sure, he does not want the club to be fighting for their Championship status again in 12 months' time. Tan, the board, nor the fans want that, either.

Lamouchi accomplished his task of keeping the club in the Championship, even though it was a little nervy towards the end, and now a big summer awaits. It wasn't always pretty and Cardiff have got things wrong over the last few months, too, but five points separate them and the bottom three and, in the end, that's all that will matter.

The question on the tip of everyone's tongues is whether Lamouchi, along with club icon Sol Bamba, will be in the dugout when the 2023/24 campaign kicks off.

Well, for now, all we have to read into is Lamouchi's end-of-season social media post, in which he thanked supporters and, crucially, said he was planning for next season. Whether he will be mandated to carry out those plans remains to be seen.

"We may not [have] done the job [at Burnley], but we are incredibly proud to have accomplished our mission and kept our club where it belongs," Lamouchi wrote on Instagram.

"We want to express our gratitude to the board, staff, players, and especially you, our amazing Cardiff fans, for your unwavering support and belief in us. As we take a brief break to regroup and plan for the next season, we remain confident that we will come back stronger than ever. Thank you again. Sabri & Sol."
