Sabri Lamouchi backs Aro Muric to bounce back from blunder in Nottingham Forest defeat to West Brom

Aro Muric will "help" Nottingham Forest a great deal this season, says Sabri Lamouchi.

The Reds boss has told the rookie keeper he must learn a difficult lesson from the 2-1 defeat to West Brom, in a game in which the on-loan Manchester City player will feel he could have done better with both opposition goals.

Muric allowed a shot from Kyle Edwards to slip from his grasp, before he was beaten by a cross from Matt Phillips, as the Baggies fought their way back from behind, following a well-taken goal from Matty Cash.

Reds head coach Lamouchi says the entire team must learn some difficult lessons from the game.

But he backed Muric to bounce back from a difficult Championship debut, saying: “It is just to be clever, smart, ready and focused, during the game.

“You adapt to the opponent and to the position of the ball. You adapt. But do not forget that he is just 20-years-old. He will make mistakes again.

“When the keeper makes mistakes, it can lead to goals. When a striker misses a goal or a midfielder makes a big mistake, it is different.

“Aro has a lot of quality. Sometimes the quality is not enough. He needs to work on that.

“But, believe me, he will help us a lot this season. He responded and made a good save in the second half.

“It is too much to give two goals away in every game. We need to work hard and think about the next game now.”

Lamouchi wants his players to focus on the trip to Leeds next weekend, where they will look to bounce back with three points.

“We need to learn from our mistakes. Today we gave them two goals and that is not easy, to come back from that,” said Lamouchi.

Matty Cash on West Brom defeat

“Some defeats can bring positive things. We just need to work, but we know that. We need to learn from our mistakes and play with more personality and experience.

“When you start in the right way, as we did today, with the goal from Matty, you cannot allow the opponent to come back into the game in the manner that we did.

“The second goal can happen, many goalkeepers would have conceded that goal. The first one was of the type that can be avoided.

“But Aro is a young keeper and he has a lot of quality. He will help us a lot this season.

“He needs to learn from this. But he knows that. He needs to play with more courage and leadership, in his area; in the box.”
