Sabina Nessa: garage worker admits responsibility for killing

A garage worker accused of murdering primary school teacher Sabina Nessa has admitted responsibility for her death.

Koci Selamaj, 36, allegedly killed Ms Nessa as she walked through a park in Kidbrooke, southeast London on her way to meet a friend on September 17.

The body of the year one teacher at Rushey Green Primary School, in Catford, was found about 24 hours later, covered in grass near to a community centre in the park.

Selamaj, an Albanian national, is accused of a “premeditated and predatory” attack on the 28-year-old teacher, a previous court hearing was told.

At the Old Bailey on Thursday morning, Selamaj pleaded not guilty to the murder of Ms Nessa.

But his barrister told the court Selamaj “accepts responsibility for the killing of Sabina Nessa”.

Selamaj, who is said to have travelled from his home in Eastbourne to London on the day of the alleged murder, appeared in the dock for the court hearing.

Mr Justice Wall remanded him in custody until a further hearing on February 25, next year.

A trial has been set down for June 7, 2022.
