Swedish heavy metal band Sabaton have announced new UK tour dates for March 2022. It will include a night at Cardiff's Motorpoint Arena on Sunday the 20th.

Formed in 1999, Sabaton have released a total of nine studio albums. The first four ranked only in the charts of their native Sweden.
Here in the UK, the first album to rank was Carolus Rex in 2012. The three albums released thereafter - Heroes (2014), The Last Stand (2016), and The Great War (2019) have charted progressively higher and higher, with the latter peaking at #11.
Sabaton teased the release of their latest studio album for which the tour will support with a short sample of a new song, Livgardet , back in February.
They wrote: "Are you ready for some new Sabaton music? Wait no more! Hear now a teaser of one of our upcoming songs." A day later, the band confirmed recording would soon be underway on their tenth studio album.
The song 'Livgardet' was written and performed in tribute to the Swedish Army regiment, relating to its 500th anniversary as a military unit.
It follows the same pattern of many of their songs that focus on battle themes and specifically heroism in war.
The word 'sabaton' itself refers to a knight's foot armor, while their last album, The Great War , was entirely based around the events of World War I.
Pre-sale tickets for Sabaton's upcoming tour date at Cardiff's Motorpoint Arena starts with the Ticketmaster presale on Thursday, July 8, as well as the venue presale on the same day.
