Sabastian Sawe wins London Marathon in world-record time

  • Sabastian Sawe and Yomif Kejelcha made history at the London Marathon by becoming the first athletes to officially break the two-hour mark in a marathon.
  • Sawe set a new official world record with an astonishing time of 01:59:30.
  • Kejelcha also finished under two hours, recording a time of 01:59:41.
  • The previous official world record of 02:00:35 was held by the late Kelvin Kiptum, set in Chicago in 2023.
  • Jacob Kiplimo's third-place time of 02:00:28 would also have surpassed the former world record, highlighting the exceptional speed of the race.
