- World No 1 Aryna Sabalenka has taken a swipe at Amanda Anisimova after their dramatic Wimbledon semi-final on Centre Court.
- Sabalenka, who was defeated in three sets by Anisimova, was previously criticised for her sour grapes reaction following her defeat by Coco Gauff at June’s French Open final.
- In a Wimbledon press conference, she said reporters would not see “that crazy person” who addressed them at Roland Garros, as she had taken “a bit more time before doing my media”.
- However, she cited two incidents during the match that irked her: Anisimova celebrating a point prematurely and not apologising for a net-cord shot.
- Anisimova, who will now face Iga Swiatek in the final, downplayed the incidents, saying of Sabalenka’s reaction to the early celebration: “I don’t really know what was the deal there.”
